TOGETHER WE ARE POWERFUL!!
Fighting for Members, servicing the School Board of Polk County
Since 1936, AFSCME has represented the workers of America in a wide variety of issues. Through the years AFSCME has established rights and fought for laws that protect the working class. Today we are fighting against privatization and other attempts to cut our rights, reduce our benefits, and abolish our jobs. It is through teamwork that we will defend the people who keep this country running.

A Letter from our President.....
January 15, 2019
"To everyone covered by all three of our contracts:
This is going to be a trying year for our Local. The voters of this State have elected a Governor and State Legislature that are not friendly to Public Education. Now we need to start watching them closely and start working to stop harmful bills from going through. Your Executive Board has been working hard for you and now we need your help to protect all of our jobs. We need everyone to join our Local to make us strong, not only locally, but statewide.
They attacked the Teachers Union and won last year. Now the Teachers Union must have 50% plus one to stay certified. We are next to need the 50% plus one to stay certified as a Bargaining Unit. We currently stand at approximately 20% membership in all three Bargaining Units as of now. Please come join us to protect our jobs and benefits. We have a lot of good people and benefits here at the Polk County School Board, let’s not lose either one. Join us and become an Active Member, we need you!"
Thank you all for doing a great job,
AFSCME Local #2227
